Suspension Control and Characterization of a Variable Damping Magneto-Rheological Mount for a Micro Autonomous Railway Inspection Car

This paper aims to present a suspension control strategy for semi-active mount with variable damping utilizing smart magneto-rheological fluid (MRF), which will be applied in micro autonomous railway inspection car as primary protect the equipment from large vibration on rails. We proposed new multi-pole structure design (MR mount) that can provide both high force and wide band. Firstly, mathematical model of MR dynamics was derived; secondly, skyhook developed mount; finally, dynamic simulation problem using Matlab software constructed evaluate performance mount. The results showed greater isolation compared conventional passive mounts. In particular, absolute displacement, velocity, acceleration detector device were reduced by 83.33%, 77%, 70%, respectively. transmitted also decreased significantly, input oscillation (i.e., un-sprung mass oscillation). Specifically, half at excitation frequency 2-fold natural magnitudes higher frequencies.
